JOYAM liquid ring vacuum pumps meet the United States Department of Agriculture
(USDA) regulations for applications in the food industry. Current uses of the liquid ring pump
in the food industry range from poultry evisceration and milk deodorizing, to air-vapor
removal in sugar processing and the drying of fresh fruits & vegetables.
In addition to our wide technology portfolio, applications expertise and safety first approach,
JOYAM takes the time to understand your process and tailor solutions that suit your
specific requirements.
| Drying of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables |
 |
A common challenge in the drying of fresh fruits and vegetables
is eliminating the excess water that has been used to wash the
produce during crating. Our liquid ring vacuum pumps handle
wet gases and have been successfully used to remove the
additional moisture caused by washing. The JOYAM
liquid ring pump not only removes the water reducing the
weight of the crate and significantly lowering the shipping
cost, it also slows the deterioration of the produce saving
you and your customer money. |

Milk has an unpleasant odor due to cows feeding on undesirable plant life. These
odors need to be removed before the milk can go to market. Our low maintenance
liquid ring pumps effectively remove the unpleasant odor by best enabling the vacuum
process, which causes the odor producing gases to be released.
In this vacuum process, steam under pressure is added to the milk, and the
temperature is increased to 190°F.This mixture is sprayed through a nozzle into
a chamber where it flash-cools to 160°F at 20" Hg vacuum. Our liquid ring vacuum
pump is ideal to create this 20" Hg vacuum and is simply and robustly constructed
to handle the condensate. |
 |
In the vacuum forming process there is a need for a reliable, liquid ring pump to induce the material to fit the contour of the mould. The vacuum needed in this process is typically 28" Hg and capacities can range from 50 to 500 CFM. The advantage of using a JOYAM liquid ring pump is that our global team will work with you to create a solution that meets the requirements of the actual plastic being used, its thickness, its temperature, and the size of the die. |
| Air-vapor Removal in Sugar Processing |
 |
When making sugar it is vital that the air-vapor mixture liberated in the
evaporation or boiling process during the final stages of sugar production is
removed. Our single and two-stage liquid ring pumps are the perfect solution
to this important requirement. The vapor produced and the incondensable gases
generated in this process are extracted using our efficient pump design. These
liquid ring pumps are a reliable, low cost solution to the demands of this sugar
making process step. |
